School Board looks at administrative staff salaries for 17-18

WAUSA — Salaries for the administrative staff at Wausa School are in the process of being put in place for the 2017-18 school year.
Board members have approved the annual salary of $110,250 for Supt. Brad Hoesing for the 2017-18 school year.
Hoesing serves as the Superintendent and also as the 9-12 grade Principal for the Wausa School.
Action on the annual salary for Tish Hennings, PK – eighth grade Principal, will be taken at the March school board meeting. Hennings also teaches two Middle School science classes.
Hoesing spoke to board members about the extra responsibilities Hennings has been handling by teaching Science classes.
“I would like to get her out of the classroom. This is just for discussion, but I would like to do something before long,” Hoesing said. “She has a lot of work to do as an administrator without teaching in the classroom. It is hard for her to get everything done.”

Hoesing asked board members about hiring a Science/Math teacher.

The new staff member could teach the two Middle School science classes plus some math classes.

“I feel we need to provide a calculus class for our kids. This has come up time and time again,” Hoesing said. “We could fill the new Science/Math teacher’s plate.”

Hoesing asked board members for permission to go ahead and place an ad for a Science/Math teacher.

“We can see what happens. Action on the hiring would be done at a later time,” he said.

Board members were in agreement.
