Knox Supervisors support libraries

CENTER — Libraries in Knox County will be getting extra financial support.

Knox County Supervisors acknowledged the importance of libraries by raising the amount of annual support six libraries will be receiving from the county.

Board members agreed to raise the amount for each library from $3,500 to $4,000 during the Supervisor meeting April 24.

Money will be taken from the inheritance funds.

Representatives from four area libraries brought a treat for board members and thanked them for their continued financial support.

Diane Limoges, Eastern Twp. Library, Crofton; Virginia Lindquist, Lied Lincoln Twp. Library, Wausa; Lindsay Nelson, Creighton Public Library and Judy Kopp, Niobrara Public Library took time out to talk board members.

Representatives from the Bloomfield Public Library and the Verdigre Public Library were unable to attend the meeting.

“We appreciate everything you do,” Limoges told board members. “Our expenses keep going up.”

Lindquist invited board members to the Open House that will be held at the Lied Lincoln Twp Library, Wausa, June 23.

“Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman will

be coming to the Open House,” Lindquist said.

The Open House will celebrate the completion of the construction of a new addition at the library.

The older portion of the Library will be used as a community room and the new portion will be the main part of the Library.

“The new addition is almost finished. We are at the end of the push to get it done. The painting is done, the flooring will soon go in and we are almost finished with the ceiling,” Lindquist said. “It has been a good plan – it is coming along nicely.”
