Knox County Supervisors want to help homeless people

CENTER — Knox County Supervisors were impressed with the work that is being accomplished by the Yankton (S.D.) Homeless Shelter.

Jesse Bailey, Executive Director of the Shelter, spoke to board members during the Dec. 8 County Supervisor meeting.

Bailey relayed two stories about some of the successful attempts to help families with housing.

“The man had lost his job. The couple and their children were provided shelter until a home could be made available for them,” Bailey said.

The Yankton Homeless Shelter provides emergency shelter to individuals and to families with children, according to Bailey.  The Shelter is made up of individual rooms that provide a safe, secure and comfortable atmosphere.
