Rosberg helps lead WSC team to National title, again

WAYNE — The Wayne State College Women’s Rugby Team has brought back their seventh National Championship. The tournament was held in Atlanta, Ga., Dec 3-4. Wayne State played Gustavus Adolphus in the semi final and won, with the score of 78-7.

Wayne took on Bentley University out of Massachusetts Sunday in the Final. After a tougher game, Wayne came out with a 46-26 win. Leanna Rosberg, Wausa, is one of the two captains on the team this year. “Our team was very young this year. We do have seven seniors, but the majority of our team is freshmen and sophomores,” said Rosberg. “We were a little worried at the beginning of the season as to if we would be able to take nationals like the year before, because we lost 12 seniors and it was more of a rebuilding year. The girls stepped up and worked very hard this semester. We played really well all season long, but we played our best in the National Championship games. I am very proud of each and every one of them.”
