Housing, speed limit bills advance in Legislature

LINCOLN — Nebraska state senators continued to vote on legislation as the 2018 legislative session rapidly approaches its end.

Gov. Pete Ricketts signed Legislative Bill 42 into law April 6. LB42 requires kids in Nebraska between the ages of 2 and 8 to use booster seats when riding in a car.

Tuesday saw the Legislature advance LB496 to select file. Proposed by Sen. John Stinner of Gering, LB496 would provide tax incentives to cities and villages constructing workforce housing using tax increment financing. Workforce housing describes homes built and offered at subsidized prices to allow workers to live closer to their place of employment. The bill passed 34-6.
