Candy Land Carnival is a huge hit for Parent Council

WAUSA — The Candy Land Carnival here last week turned out to be a very colorful event for kids and their parents.
“I am very excited about the turnout. We were all nervous about how this would turn out and it turned out fabulous. We couldn’t believe how many people came out to join us.  It’s nice to know that the community supports the school,” said Shelby West, who helped spear-head the project.
The event was the brain child of the Wausa Parent Council.
“We decided every year that we would do a family fun night,” West said. “This year we wanted to do something different so we wanted to implement the carnival, so the ladies came up with the theme of Candy Land. We thought it would be fun, we kind of came up with that idea and went with it.”
It takes a lot of coordinators and volunteers to put on a  community event, West said. The five parents on the Parent Council were joined by several other volunteers to help pull the event off.
