Olé Open planned for July 27; will raise funds for Wausa Development Corporation

WAUSA — Time is running out!

The annual Olé Open will be held July 27 at the Rolling Hills Country Club, Wausa.

The Olé Open consists of 18 holes of golf, with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Flag prizes will be offered on each hole.

A Swedish Swing competition will also be held. A ticket to the Pork Chop BBQ is included for each team member.

Golf carts are available at the club house, please call 402-586-2507.

The Olé Open is a four-person team best ball format in cooperation with the Wausa Pork Chop Barbecue. Male, female or mixed teams are encouraged to play in this tournament. It is all about having fun.

Cost is $200 per team and includes the tournament, a putting tournament, mulligans, flag prizes, a special Swedish crowning of the winning team, tickets to an “all-you-can-eat” Pork Chop BBQ, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., with music, wild dancing and a great auction of unbelievable items to follow. Music will be provided by “Gotcha Cover’d”.

Last year’s winning team included Matt Hadenfeldt, Tyler Hefner, Jason Hefner and Kevin Burns.

The Olé Open is a fundraiser for the Wausa Development Corporation. The WDC recently announced that a residential development area will soon be opening up on the south end of the community. The Wausa Leisure Living and the Wausa Development Corporation had a vision to provide an opportunity to the area residents for new housing.

An agreement was made for the Wausa Leisure Living, better known as Countryside Villa, to sell approximately five and one half acres to the Wausa Development Corporation to fill a housing need for the community.

The property is located just east of the Golden Living Center and the Countryside Villa and just south of Pershing Street.
