WAUSA — A community survey shows area residents believe affordable housing and business recruitment and expansion are Wausa’s two biggest needs.

About a dozen interested persons braved the cold and snow Monday for a Town Hall meeting to hear discussions between Village Board members and Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District Community Planner Lowell Schroeder about a possible Wausa revitalization project.

The topic has been under discussion ever since Sept. 18 when a group of business leaders approached Schroeder, along with the Wausa Village Board about options available to the town.

Following that meeting, Schroeder did a community-wide survey to gauge interest and discover perceived needs within the community.

Results from the 115 respondents were presented Monday.
