Nearly $30,000 in lodging tax funds are handed out

CENTER — Knox County Supervisors agreed to hand out close to $29,300 to local communities and organizations in order to promote tourism in Knox County.
The money will be dispersed from an account holding funds that have been collected through the Knox County lodging tax.
Knox County Economic Development Director Megan Hanefeldt, who had attended a recent meeting of  the Knox County Visitors’ Committee, presented information on the applications that had been submitted for funds.
The three percent lodging tax collected last year has been divided into grant funds for promotion and for brick and mortar projects, which are used to make improvements.
