Lower Elkhorn NRD is proactively planning for future drought events

NORFOLK — The Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District (LENRD) is taking proactive steps to reduce the impacts of future drought events. One of these steps is the development of the Drought Management Plan. The Drought Management Plan defines drought locally and identifies processes to respond to and manage the impacts of future drought events.
LENRD Water Resources Manager, Brian Bruckner, said, “The Drought Management Plan was developed with the intention that it be adopted as an appendix of the district’s Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Drought Management Plan draft is available on the LENRD website. The public is encouraged to review the plan and provide comments, no later than January 25th, 2017.”
