Lodging tax is going up in Knox County

CENTER — The lodging tax in Knox County will be increasing – but only by one percent. A public meeting was held before Knox County Supervisors voted to increase the lodging tax from three percent to four percent.
The lodging tax is imposed on the charges for sleeping accommodations at motels, hotels and campgrounds.
Funds collected through the lodging tax are eventually dispersed to communities across the county in an effort to promote local economic development.
A one percent lodging tax is also collected for the State and is managed by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
Two local business owners sat in on the public hearing that was held earlier this month.
