Knox County Relay For Life to kick off at 7 p.m. Friday

CREIGHTON — One-hundred years ago, the word “cancer” was not spoken, and we lost almost all patients to the disease. We now know that cancer thrives on silence and complacency. Progress comes when we speak out, when we make noise. Our 100th birthday is not a time to rest; it’s a time to get loud by taking more action. It’s a time to embark on our most ambitious crusade yet. We are determined to make this cancer’s last century. We’re leading the way to transform cancer from deadly to treatable and from treatable to preventable. We need you!

May 31, please bring your family and friends to the Creighton High School Track for an evening to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back! Beginning at 7 p.m., we want to celebrate our survivors with the opening ceremony and cheer them on as they take their victory lap to kick-off this overnight event. If you are a survivor and have not registered yet, don’t worry. It’s not too late to take part. In fact, you can register right there at the event. We are just getting warmed up! Following the opening ceremony, get ready for an evening full of food, fun and fellowship. There will be activities for all throughout the evening from bounce houses to relaxing massages, there will be something for everyone. You definitely won’t want to miss the luminaria ceremony – a favorite and a must see for all attendees. The evening is sure to be wonderful as you meet new friends and reconnect with some old ones.

You are invited to join us at the Creighton High School Track anytime between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. May 31-June 1. You can stay an hour or stay all night. While you are there, be sure and find a committee member (just look for someone in an orange t-shirt) if you have questions about Relay. Ask one of them how you can get involved and help us work to Finish the Fight against cancer. It’s going to be a beautiful night to let the luminaria light your path as you take a lap on the track. See you May 31!
