Knox County board members vote to continue supporting libraries

CENTER — Knox County board members unanimously agreed to continue supporting libraries in Knox County during the April 13 Supervisor meeting.
Each of the six libraries in Knox County will receive a donation of $4,200, which is the same amount as last year.
Librarians and employees from Wausa, Creighton, Niobrara, and Verdigre stopped in at the April 13 Supervisor meeting to issue a big “thank you” to the Supervisors which included a gift of Kolaches, which seem to be a favorite treat in Knox County.
Kolache Days, which can include Kolache eating contests and turtle races, are celebrated across the county during the festival.
Representatives from Libraries in Bloomfield and Crofton were not present at the county meeting but had sent a letter to board members.

Director Virginia Lindquist told how the older building that had previously held the Library in Wausa is being put to good use.
The building has been renovated and will be used as a community meeting room which can hold between 50 to 60 people according to Lindquist.
The carpet was pulled up to expose the oak floor underneath, which was sanded and refinished to its original beautiful state. The meeting room has a kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and disposal.
