Grant received to help with revitalization plan

WAUSA — As part of an effort to revitalize downtown communities throughout Nebraska, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development selected Wausa as one of seven towns to receive funding for pre-development and planning.

Wausa will receive $30,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds to strategize and develop a downtown revitalization plan with the engineering firm Miller and Associates.

An additional $14,550 will be used for Phase 1 of the project.

Jason Seagren is on Wausa’s revitalization committee, and says they will meet with Miller and Associates in the coming weeks to put together the plan.

Any of the 15 businesses in downtown Wausa are eligible to receive funding to renovate their storefront in various ways, they will just need to apply to the revitalization committee to be a part of the project.
