Drivers are not heeding school bus warnings

CENTER — With school once again in session, many area residents may need a refresher as to how to drive around school busses.
Law enforcement officers in both Cedar and Knox counties have been made aware of problems with motorists and busses.
Records show the County Sheriff’s Departments in Cedar and Knox County have been tough on drivers who do not obey the law as they approach a school bus that is dropping a child off.
Violations involving school bus stops were a big topic at the Aug. 31 Knox County Supervisor meeting.
Rick Meyer and John Merkel, with B-J School Buses Inc., and Shawn Jordan, a bus driver, met with Knox County Supervisors concerning safety issues for students who are getting off a school bus.
Meyer talked to board members about a recent incident that had happened and discussed other incidents involving drivers not stopping when a school bus is dropping a child off at a stop.
