Wynot suffers first loss

WYNOT  — Any hope for perfection ended here Friday for the Wynot Lady Blue Devils.
Lewis and Clark Conference rival Wausa surprised the Lady Devils with a 39-32 upset win here Friday. The loss drops Wynot to 4-1 on the year.
The Lady Blue Devils were victims of a sluggish start and were never able to put together a comeback in the contest. Wausa improved 3-2 with the conference win.

Wausa got a big game from Savannah Wakeley, who ended the night with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Peyton Swanson contributed to the win with an eight-point effort.
Wynot was led by Sarah Schulte with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Kelli Koch lead the team in assists and hit Wynot’s only three pointer of the night on her way to five points
Savannah Wakeley connected for five points and Peyton Swanson had four points in the first quarter to lead their team to a 12-6 advantage.
The Lady Devil  defense showed up in the second quarter and four points by Shawna Wiepen cut the visitors’ lead to 19-14 at the half.
Both teams went cold from the field in the third quarter. Sarah Schulte had four points for Wynot but the Lady Devils were unable to gain ground as Wausa milked the clock on every possession and hung onto their 27-21 lead.
Kelli Koch would drain a long three pointer to open the fourth quarter and Sarah Schulte connected for five points in the period but Savannah Wakeley stepped up and led her team to victory with seven points in the final frame.
Wynot rounded out the pre-Holiday season Tuesday when they host Omaha Nation.

BLOOMFIELD — The Wynot Lady Devils had an easy time of it against the Queen Bees Tuesday, picking up a 48-40 Lewis and Clark Conference win.
