Wynot, Newcastle will join forces for football

WYNOT — Two long-time rivals have agreed to join forces on the football field next fall.
The Wynot School Board voted last week to co-op their football program with Newcastle.
The two teams had all ready been sharing a junior high program.

Details on the team name and colors have yet to be worked out. It is hoped that home games can be split between the two sites.
The schools must now contact the NSAA and have the co-op agreement approved in order to compete together next fall.
The Current NSAA enrollment for Wynot is listed at 41, while the NSAA lists Newcastle at 27.
Under this year’s guidelines, the combined school enrollment would move the team into Class D1.
