Wynot needs rally to win

MITCHELL, S.D.  — The Wynot Expos took a 12-11 lead into the ninth inning of the Class B State Championship game here Sunday, but gave up four ninth-inning runs to fall into a 15-12 hole.

Wynot pitcher Eric Hames retired the first two batters he faced in the ninth inning, but the wheels came off after that as Dell Rapids plated four runs on three hits and a walk to take the lead.

Wynot reliever Scott Morrison then retired the final batter to end the threat.

Wynot led off the bottom of the ninth inning with Chase Rolfes’ at bat. He was scheduled to be followed to the plate by Matt Hames, Nick Hegge and Lee Heimes.
