Wynot going for State title again

LINCOLN — For the second year in a row, the Wynot Lady Blue Devils will be playing for a state championship.

Wynot lost last year’s State title game to Lindsay Holy Family last year. It took a year, but the Lady Devils were able to avenge that loss Friday.

Wynot defeated LHF 53-44 in Friday’s Class D2 State Semifinal game.

Wynot and LHF ended the first frame knotted at 7-7. The Lady Devils earned a 14-9 scoring advantage in the second frame to take a 21-16 lead into the break.

The Lady Devils also outscored Holy Family in the third quarter, 16-11, to take a nine-point lead into the final frame.

Coach Steve Wieseler’s team then kept LHF  in check in the final frame to earn the win.
