Wrestlers compete at Stanton invitational

STANTON — The Osmond wrestlers competed at the Stanton invitational on Saturday, Dec. 10.  The Tigers scored 11 points and finished in 15th place out of the 17 teams competing.  Battle Creek was the team champion, followed by David City and Plainview.  The Tigers had an overall record of three wins and three losses.

“Both kids wrestled well but, because of an injury, we didn’t finish as well as we would have liked,” commented Coach Larry McKenna. “Paul started out the first round with a first period pin of Justin Brtek of Norfolk Catholic.  In the second round, Paul lost by injury default and we felt like it would be better to sit out the rest of the tournament.  I know that Paul was disappointed because we felt that he had a very good chance to come all the way back and finish in third place.  Colton also started out the first round with a pin.  Colton pinned Jacob Craven of Norfolk Catholic in five min and 38 seconds to move into the second round.   Colton ended the day with two wins and two losses, just missing a medal by one match.  Both kids wrestled well.  We are coming around nicely and I look forward to our next tournament.”
