Staunch Randolph defense ends Cats’ season

PIERCE — The Hartington Wildcats had no trouble with the Winside Wildcats in their opening round game of the SubDistrict tournament.
Hartington raced to a 33-11 halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 70-25 win.

Nick Miller rained in a trio of long range bombs on his way to 19 points to lead all scorers. Derek Jueden also connected from behind the arc three times and ended with 11 points and Adam Hochstein just missed double figures with nine points.
Ricky Wright hit a pair of threes for Winside and led his team with six points.
“The entire team executed well on both ends of the floor. They did a good job of contesting shots and boxing out on the boards. It was good to see everyone step up and play well,” stated Hartington head coach Nick Haselhorst.
Nick Miller exploded for 12 of Hartington’s 14 first quarter points as they raced to a 14-2 lead early.
Derek Jueden and Miller each hit treys in the second quarter and Adam Hochstein dropped in five points as the boys in purple kept on rolling to a 33-11 halftime advantage.
Ricky Wright tried to rally the Red Cats in the third quarter with a pair of long balls from behind the arc and Winside scored 12 points in the period.
Hartington was hot however, and 5 points each from Ross Hegge and Kolby Jueden led a 22-point charge by Hartington as  they continued to build on their lead to a 55-23 spread.
Derek Jueden hit a pair of three pointers and Riley Haug dropped in four points as Hartington won the show down of the Wildcats by a score of 70-25. Winside’s  season comes to end with a 3-19 record.

Hartington hung tough in the opening quarter as they used the long range ball to earn a  9-8 lead.
Derek Jueden buried a pair from the wings and Ross Hegge nailed one from the top of the key to account for the scoring.
