NSAA reshuffles Football Classes, Districts

LINCOLN — The Nebraska School Activities Association has just released its classification breakdown and District assignments for the next two football seasons.
The NSAA reshuffles its six classes and all Districts every two years based on changes in school enrollment.
Hartington and Cedar Catholic will see several new District foes this year.

Wynot’s football District will remain relatively unchanged. The only difference for Wynot is that Bloomfield has moved to a different District and Walthill has moved down from D1 and into Bloomfield’s spot. Bloomfield has moved to a more western District, featuring Lynch, Verdigre, Niobrara and O’Neill St. Mary’s.
Hartington will have one less powerhouse to deal with in the chase for the District title.
The Wildcats will compete in District D1-4. Two-time defending District champ Bancroft-Rosalie will compete in District D1-5 this year. The Panthers were replaced by Emerson-Hubbard, a team that competed in 11-man football last year. Other teams in District D1-4 are: Osmond, Winside, Winnebago and Omaha Nation.
Cedar Catholic will compete in District C2-5 this year. This District is based more in the east. Cedar had been competing against more western teams like Creighton, Plainview, Neligh and Atkinson West Holt. Now, Cedar will be competing against Homer, Ponca, Wakefield, Laurel-Concord and Randolph.
