Heimes' big bat powers Wynot

MITCHELL,  S.D. — The Wynot Expos earned another win during action in the South Dakota State Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament.
Wynot fell behind in the third inning, but used a 7-0 spurt over the final two frames to claim a 9-5 win over Geddes and advance to third-round action.
Wynot strung together 12 hits in the contest, while Geddes could only muster seven hits. The Ballrockers were aided by four Wynot errors, though.
Lee Heimes was Mr. Clutch for Wynot.
He led the team in runs, crossing the plate three times. Heimes connected on 2-4 and knocked in six runs on the night. He also reached base on a walk.
Left fielder Chase Rolfes paced the Expo offense with his 3-4 effort at the plate. He also scored two of Wynot’s runs. Matt Hames also fared well for the Expos with his 3-5 performance. He also scored a pair of runs.
Bill Guenther,  a pick-up player from Crofton, started the game on the mound for Wynot, giving up just five hits and three runs in six innings of work to earn the win. Scott Morrison then came on in relief. He gave up two runs and two hits in two-and one-third innings of work. Clif Kephart came on in the final frame to slam door on Geddes’ rally hopes and earn the save.
Wynot got on the board early against Geddes, plating two runners to take the early 2-0 lead.
