This marks the second straight year the Bankers have qualified for the Nebraska State Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament. This is only the second year the organization has put on a state tournament.
Hartington earned runner-up honors at State last year.

The Bankers, 11-4 on the year and Cedar County League runner-ups,  won their first District game by forfeit and followed that up with a 7-0 victory over Pierce behind Matt Weinandt’s pitching.
The championship game found the Bankers going up against tourney hosts, O’Neill, and coming away with the championship honors.
Ty Hegge pitched the first five innings with Tim Wieseler finishing the last three frames to earn a save in the 9-5 decision.
The champions from five different District Tournaments, plus one wild card team all advanced to the state finals.
Two Cedar County League teams, Hartington-Fordyce and Wakefield both advanced to the state tournament, as did teams from Chadron, Cairo, Yutan and Hauxton, Colo.
This year’s state tournament will be held at Wakefield.
The Hartington-Fordyce team will be taking on Hauxton, Colo., at 10 a.m., Saturday, in the first game of Round-Robin play.
The Colorado team is rated third in the latest Nebraska Class B State poll. Hartington is not rated in the poll.
If Hartington loses, they play Utan at 3 p.m. that afternoon. If they win they will play at 8 p.m.
The championship game will be played at 2 p.m., Sunday. The winner from Hartington’s side of the bracket will take on either Cairo, Chadron or Wakefield in Sunday’s championship game.
