Griess, Dump earn Academic All State

LINCOLN â??Cedar Catholic senior football players Brandon Griess and Kyle Dump were honored Thursday as members of the Nebraska School Activities Association Academic All State Team.
The state-wide honor was announced during Thursday’s football banquet here.

Griess was an offensive lineman, defensive end and punter for the 10-2 Cedar Catholic Trojans. Dump was an offensive guard and defensive tackle for the Trojans.

Griess was also honored Thursday as the team’s special teams MVP.
Dump was honored Thursday as the MVP of the 2007 football team.

Cedar sophomore Chad Koch was named as the offensive MVP, while senior Tim Wieseler was named as the Defensive MVP.
Several other honors were handed out at Thursday’s banquet. Turner Becker was honored as the Most Improved Player. Andy Dickes picked up the honor as the Most Inspirational.
Several Junior Varsity players were also honored. Justin Leise earned JV team MVP. Eric Becker was selected as the offensive MVP, while Darren Hochstein was named as the team’s Defensive MVP.
