Dream still alive for Hartington Juniors

HARTINGTON — The Hartington American Legion Juniors pieced together an 8-7 win over West Point here Wednesday night to extend the championship series to two games.

The winner of the 7:45 p.m. finale will advance to the Class C American Legion Tournament beginning Saturday in Hershey. The Area 2 winner, either Hartington or West Point, will take on Sutton at 10 a.m. in first-round action Saturday.

Hartington fell behind 3-0 in the first frame Wednesday, but never gave up, cutting the deficit to 3-2 at the end of the first frame.

Hartington put its first run of the game up when Trent Jansen singled, then advanced on a wild pitch and came home on Eric Kruse’s RBI single.
