Cedar pounds Bears

LAUREL – Cedar Catholic hung a 49-6 pounding on the Laurel-Concord/Coleridge Bears here Friday in District football action.

The win moves Cedar to 4-2 on the year, while LCC drops to 3-3 with the loss.

The Trojans used a punishing ground attack to take control of the game, pounding out 353 yards on the ground.

The Cedar defense was equally impressive, holding Laurel star Mitch Heikes t negative yardage the first five times he touched the ball. Heikes ended the night with just 36 yards on 22 carries. Laurel quarterback Justin Saunders led the Orange and Black ground attack, carring the ball for 66 yards. Most of those yards came on a run too the Cedar three yard-line as time expired on the first half.

Cedar punched a pair of scores across the goal line in the first frame to take a 16-0 first-quarter lead.
