Bowling team ready for State Tourney

LINCOLN — Cedar Catholic’s bowling team will participate this weekend in the State Bowling Tournament in Lincoln.

The Ravenna boys bowling team is the defending state high school bowling tournament champs. The event begins Saturday in Lincoln.

Cedar will be competing against Ravenna, North Bend, Wayne, Norfolk Catholic, Burwell/Ord, Boone Central, Kearney Catholic and Grand Island Central Catholic.

Teams competing in the Class C girls tournament are North Bend, Wayne, Burwell/Ord, Wakefield, Chase County, Plainview, Ravenna, Doniphan, Wisner/Pilger, Hastings St. Cecilia and Chadron.

Class C competition begins at 8 a.m. Saturday with a four-game block and a best-of-5 single-elimination round using the Baker format. Saturday’s competition will narrow the field down to the two teams that will compete for the Class C championship at Sun Valley Lanes on Sunday.

Nebraska Public Television will televise this year’s finals over two Sundays. The NET broadcast of the boys finals will air at 8 a.m. Feb. 19. The girls finals will be broadcast the following Sunday, also beginning at 8 a.m.
