Big wins push the Lady Devils to 17-2

WYNOT — Mismatches happen when the number-two seed and the number 15-seed get together.
That was exactly the case here Saturday when number-two seed Wynot took on the 15th seed Wausa Lady Vikings in first round action of the Lewis and Clark Conference tournament.
The Lady Devils rolled over the Lady Vikes  74-11.
The Lady Vikings had trouble with the Blue Devils’ relentless pressure defense and when they did break it they shot poorly hitting on only 5 of 39 shots.

Wynot was led on the offense by Shelby Wieseler who hit a trio of three pointers on her way to 15 points. Kattie Savoy also finished with three treys and 12 points and Maggie Schulte had 12 points and eight rebounds for the the Lady Blue Devils.
Wausa was led by Michelle Haselhorst with four points.
Wynot got off to a fast start behind eight points by Maggie Schulte and treys by Erica Burbach and Kattie Savoy to stake themselves to a big 27-1 opening-quarter lead.
Wynot continued to roll up big numbers in the second quarter.
A three-pointer and five points by Shelby Wieseler and a three from the left wing by Shelby Hochstein fueled an 18-2 run to lead 45-3 at the half.
Shelby Wieseler rained in two more bombs from behind the arc and Kattie Savoy hit her second trey of the game in the third quarter and Wynot continued to dominate the game and built their lead to 63-5 at the end of three periods.
In the fourth quarter Wausa got fieldgoals from Michelle Haselhorst, Morgan Kumm and Breana Gallup.

Wynot countered with four more points by Maggie Schulte, a Kattie Savoy trey and fieldgoals by Heidi Klug and Megan Klug as they finished off the game on a 11-6 run to make the final 74-11.

The Wynot Lady Blue Devils continue to rack up the wins as the travelled to Lynch on icy roads on Tuesday night and dominated for four quarters and rolled to their 16th win of the season with a big 87-36 pasting of the Lady Eagles. Wynot would rain in 11 three pointers  and go 20 of 25 from the free throw line. The Lady Blue Devils would outrebound the Lady Eagles 34-18 as they contolled both the offensive and defensive glass for most of the night.
Wynot placed four players in double figures lead by Maggie Schulte with 15 points. Shelby Wieseler hit 4 three pointers for her 12 points and Haley Gowery connected twice from behind the arc and ended with a dozen points as well. Erica Burbach was able to contribute a pair of three pointers and reached double figures as well with her 10 point effort.
The Lady Eagles got a steady 14 points from McKenna Rossmeier to lead Lynch.
Maggie Schulte led the charge out of the gate for the Blue Devils with a quick nine points. Haley Gowery, Erica Burbach and Kattie Savoy all hit three pointers to help give Wynot a 26-7 first-quarter lead.
Lynch got a pair of fieldgoals each from McKenna Rossmeier and Shelbie Heiser in the second quarter but Wynot kept raining in threes and the Lady Eagles could gain no ground. A trio of three pointers by Shelby Wieseler hurt and a trey and five points by Erica Burbach also did some more damage as Wynot expanded their lead to 49-19 at the half.
Rossmeier got all eight of Lynch’s third quarter points as Wynot countered with six points from Bailey Kuchta and threes by Ashley Heine and Shelby Wieseler as they went on a 20-8 run to put the Lady Eagles in a very deep hole at 69-27.
Reserves saw a lot of action in the final quarter and Zoey Heimes drained a three pointer while Kelsie contributed a conventional thre points and the Lady Devils hit 5-8 freethrows down the stretch making the final a lopsided 87-36 margin.
