Lunz eliminates Lammers in District action

NORFOLK — Cedar Catholic wrestler Dalton Lammers lost his chance for a state tournament bid with a 12-2 setback  Saturday morning against Laurel-Concord/Coleridge’s Drew Lunz.

Lammers and Lunz dueled throughout the first period, both looking for a takedown.

Lunz finally earned the takedown and picked up back points to take a 5-0 lead. He then earned a second-period reversal to go up 7-0.

Lammers picked up his first points of the match on a third-period takedown, but Lunz earned the reversal and ended up picking up more backpoints to earn the 12-2 decison and end Lammers’ season at 14-18.

Cedar has two wrestlers left with a chance to make it to State. Tyler Loberg and Andrew Lorenz both have  a shot at State. Lorenz is 2-0 so far in the tourney, while Loberg is 1-1. If Loberg loses again before the medal-round, he will be eliminated.
