REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
July 18, 2016
The regular meeting of the Wausa Board of Education was called to order by Darren Vanness at 7:05 p.m.  Members present were: Darren Vanness, Mike Kumm, Brian Wakeley, Mark Dawson.
Absent:  Terry Johnson, Terry Nelson.
The Pledge of Allegiance was stated.
The motion was made by Mike Kumm and seconded by Brian Wakeley to excuse Terry Johnson and Terry Nelson from the July 18, 2016 Wausa Regular Meeting.
Aye:  Darren Vanness, Mike Kumm, Brian Wakeley, Mark Dawson.  Absent:  Terry Johnson, Terry Nelson.
The motion was made by Mark Dawson and seconded by Mike Kumm to adopt the agenda.

Superintendent Hoesing reviewed the treasurer’s report, listing revenue as well as general fund payroll and bills to be paid. The various other supporting funds were reviewed which include the Special Building Fund, Qualified Capitol Purpose fund, Employee Benefit Fund, Cooperative Fund and Depreciation fund.

The motion was made by Mark Dawson and seconded by Mike Kumm to approve the  treasurer’s report as presented by Superintendent Hoesing.

Superintendent Hoesing reviewed claims, providing explanations and answering questions as needed.
The motion was made by Mike Kumm and seconded by Brian Wakeley to approve the claims as presented by Superintendent Hoesing.

The activities expenditure/receipts report was presented by Superintendent Hoesing
Mr. Hoesing presented his Superintendent’s report. He has met with various staff talking about job descriptions and expectations. He attended a NASB workshop on July 8 for administration and a Powerschool workshop with Mrs. Hennings and Mrs. Smith on July 10 and 11. Mr. Hoesing provided updates regarding summer projects. An August and September meetings preview was also provided.
Discussion was conducted on the following items:  Board Retreat Review, Board Policy Handbooks, water softener in the old building (for water in the old building and north wing classrooms and faucets), appointing Rollie Barnes as chief inspector of our vehicles,
sale of old books in the library, property at 303 E. Grant St.
The motion was made by Brian Wakeley and seconded by Mike Kumm to appoint Rollie Barnes to inspect and certify all school vehicles for the 2016-17 year.

The motion was made by Mike Kumm and seconded by Mark Dawson to approve the faculty and student handbook changes and updates to reflect and mirror Wausa’s board policy handbook.

The motion was made by Brian Wakeley and seconded by Mike Kumm to appoint Sheila Hoesing and Wendy Ketelsen to sell old library books, provided that they adhere to board Policy 3000 series outlining sales of such items.

The motion was made by Brian Wakeley and seconded by Mark Dawson to authorize Mr. Hoesing to sign lunch checks.
