Pierce Co. Commissioners set final budget figures

PIERCE — The Pierce County Board of Commissioners met Sept. 16, and worked through a short agenda. Because of the absence of Board Chairman Jim Maas, Commissioner Terry Wragge was appointed chairman pro temp.

In Board of Equalization session, commissioners approved board notices 890 through 1444. County Assessor Peggy Wragge told the board the notices were changed between the dates of June 1-July 25. Board notices were defined by the assessor’s office as any kind of change in values during certain time frames.  The assessor’s office said they are currently using GIS to update all the land areas since that is more precise.

Now that the Pierce County budget has been approved through resolution, the final figures of the 2013-14 budget of disbursements is $4,747,972.48 with a levy of 0.277354 and a tax asking of $3,753,700. The figures show a decrease in the levy and tax asking resulting from the taxpayers’ responses at the last meeting.

In other business, the commissioners:

— approved a Special Designated Liquor License for Shane Taylor for Taylormade Catering for Oct 5, 2013, from 4 p.m.-1 a.m., at the Pierce Pavilion.

— approved the Weyhrich-Naslund lot split in Part SE¼SW¼ 4-27-1.

— tabled the Ryan Zimmerman lot split in Part E½ 26-25-3.

The next meeting will be Sept. 30, 2013.
