Tigers are Neligh-Oakdale meet champions; girls are fourth

NELIGH — The Tiger track teams got a strong start from the field events, especially the throws, to propel them to a good finish at the Neligh-Oakdale invitational last Tuesday, April 9.

Theboys’shotputsaw Alexis Solorzano win the event with a toss of 42 ft., 4.5 in., Landon Stelling third at 37 ft., 10 in., and Zach Huwaldt fifth with a mark of 36 ft., 6 in. For the girls, Mary Kahny finished second, just five inches from the gold. Her distance was 33 ft., 4 in., her best toss ever. She also picked up third place in the discus with a toss of 85 ft., 2 in. Alexis earned fourth place in the discus at 108 ft., 1 in.

Other field events that scored were a third and fourth place finish in the boys’ triple jump as Justus Maertins finished third with 37 ft., 10 in. and Graysen Schultze fourth, 37 ft., 2 in. Aaron Chishiba took third in the long jump with a leap of 18 ft., 5 in. Makenzie Johnson placed second in the high jump at 4 ft., 8 in.
