Tigers advance to district final

BATTLE CREEK — The Osmond Tigers extended their season and ended Randolph’s last Thursday night, Feb. 22, in the D1-5 subdistrict final in Battle Creek. Osmond earned a spot in the final after defeating Elkhorn Valley in the first round on Tuesday. The Tigers defeated Randolph by a final score of 54-46, a closer contest than their first game of the season that saw Osmond run all over the Cardinals 63-41.

The contest began in an uncommon fashion Thursday evening. A technical foul was assessed on Randolph during the pregame warm-up for snapping the rim. This resulted in senior Alex Kumm being able to shoot two free throws before the clock had even started. As anticipated, Alex made both attempts. The Tigers received possession of the ball following the free throws. After that, each team went bucket for bucket the first few possessions until Osmond overwhelmed the Cardinals on the offensive glass, earning 13 offensive boards in the first half.
