Wrestlers compete at Creighton

CREIGHTON — The Osmond High School wrestlers competed at the Creighton invitational on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Tigers scored 24 points and finished in 12th place out of the 15 teams competing. Battle Creek was the team champion, followed by Elkhorn Valley. The Tigers had two individual placers, with Alexander Heiman finishing fourth in the 126-lb. bracket and Colton Beacom finishing fifth in the 145-lb. bracket.

“This was a good first tournament for us,” commented Coach Larry McKenna. “Everyone won at least one match and it was good experience for the younger wrestlers. I thought that Colton had a good tournament, finishing with two wins and placing fifth in the 145-lb. bracket. This was a pretty tough bracket, with the top three placers all being returning state medalists. It was also good to see Alexander earn a top four finish in his first varsity tournament. Alexis Solorzano also picked up a win by pin in the 182-lb. bracket.
