New bell tower raised on Lutheran church grounds

OSMOND — Recently, the members of Immanuel Lutheran Church saw a new structure on the grounds of the church. On Thursday, April 26, a new bell tower went up after years of absence.

As far as can be determined, the bell itself has been used since about 1905 when the first Lutheran church was built. That building was used for a time as both church and school, until a new church was built in 1915. In 1962, the current Lutheran church was dedicated and, several years later, a brick tower was built to house the bell. Sometime in the late 1970s, the bell was taken to Cincinnati, OH, where it was fitted to ring electronically from within the church.
