Obituray – Vernon E. Tramp

YANKTON, S.D. — Vernon E. Tramp, 91, Yankton, S.D., died Oct. 14, 2011, at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton. Visitation and a Wake service were Oct. 16 at St. Boniface Church, Menominee and resumed one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 17 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee, with Rev. David Fulton officiating.  Burial was in the parish cemetery.
The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, was in charge of arrangements.

Vernon was born May 23, 1920, to Albert and Elizabeth (Goeden) Tramp near Crofton. He attended school in Menominee. Vernon married Lorraine Schroeder June 4, 1947, in Menominee. He spent his entire life farming the land he loved northeast of Crofton.
He was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Church, Menominee, where he served as a trustee and a willing servant.
His hobbies included gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and baseball. His true passions were his family and his faith.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine, Yankton, S.D.; 12 children and their spouses, Verona Bedrous, Moreno Valley, Calif.; Mary Jane Heine, Vermillion, S.D.; Reynold and Susan, Crofton; Lavonne and Jack Bierle, Boise, Idaho; Merle and Sue, Crofton; Jan and Bill Hesse, Yankton, S.D.; Joan and Sid Kollars, Norfolk; Bill and Dawn Ann, Miles City, Mont.; Rodney and DeeDee, Crofton; Kay and Scott Tweedy, Castle Rock, Colo.; Leanne and Jody Wendte, Crofton; and Bert and Pam, Crofton; 39 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Gobel, Banks, Ore., and Caroline Mueller, South Yankton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori Schieffer; sons-in-law, Larry Muxfelt and Paul Heine; siblings, Marie Kaiser Hegge, Lawrence, Aelred, Laurine, Andrew, George, Richard and his twin, Sister Antoinette.
