Obituary – Randy Folkers

HARTINGTON — Randy L. Folkers, 47, Hartington, died Aug. 9, 2008, at his residence.
Visitation was Aug. 12 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and continued one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday.
Funeral Services will be Aug.13, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Bob Bryan officiating.
Burial will be at the Hartington City Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Justin Heikes, Tyler Heikes, Todd Heikes, Jason Folkers, Dylan Steinhoff and Mitchell Steinhoff.
Randy Lee Folkers was born Feb. 19, 1961, to Larry V. and Glenda J. (Lukes) Folkers, Yankton, S.D. He grew up in Hartington and graduated from Hartington Public High School in 1979. He married Marcy Lynn Hasbrouck April 5, 1980, in Hartington. After their marriage, he and Marcy moved to Omaha where he worked maintenance at an apartment complex for five years. They then moved to Topeka, Kan., where he continued in the same work. Randy and Marcy moved back to Hartington in 1989. Randy began working for Larry’s Heating and Cooling in Yankton, S.D., for a year before starting his employment with Kansas/Nebraska Gas Company, now Source Gas Co.
Randy belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church.
He loved to golf and play pool. He actively supported his kids in all their activities as they grew up, and enjoyed his six grandchildren.
Randy is survived by his wife, Marcy, Hartington; four children, Blaire Folkers, Hartington; Jeff and his wife, Becky Folkers, Yankton, S.D.; Travis Folkers, Hartington; and Nikole Folkers, Hartington; six grandchildren, Ryley, Karter, Kendryk, Keatyn, Alexis,and Jaxson Folkers; parents, Larry and Glenda Folkers, Hartington; two sisters and their spouses, LaRee and Dave VanGinkel, Hartington, and JoLee Delmonte, Sioux Falls, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
