Obituary – Marian Schiedel

Yankton, S.D. — Marian G. Schiedel, 97, Yankton, died, Nov. 27, 2007, at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton.
Visitation and a scripture service were Nov. 29, at the Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton.
Funeral services were Nov. 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, with Rev. Mark Lichter officiating.

Burial was in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Fordyce. Pallbearers were Barry Schiedel, Don Schiedel, Steve Schiedel, Ed Lammers and Steve Frick.
Marian was born March 12, 1910, at New York, N.Y. With her mother unable to provide for her, she found herself a passenger on the Orphan Train headed west. She was adopted by her new parents, John and Anna Lammers, Fordyce. She grew up in the Fordyce area and graduated from Cedar High School, Hartington, and attended Mount Marty College, Yankton. Marian married Harry Schiedel, March 10, 1934, and they made their home in the Fordyce area. She worked for a number of years at Gurney’s, Newberry’s and Tastee Treat.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton.
She is survived by two sons and wives, Gerald and Arlys, Longwood, Fla., and Roger and Maija, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
