PINCHER CREEK, Alberta, Canada — Marcel (Marcellinus John) Lammers, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, died June 8, 2011, at his home.
A prayer service was held June 19.
Funeral services were held June 20 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with interment at the Fairview Cemetery, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada.

Marcel was born and raised in Fordyce, and served in the Korean War and U.S. Air Force for four years. He married Alice Becker in 1955, and moved to Canada in 1957, working for two years as a hired hand for Cyril and Toots Hochstein. In 1959, they purchased their present day family farm.
Marcel was a true farmer, loved to plant the seed, watch it grow and harvest it. He appreciated and commented often on the beauty of nature in all of its entirety, especially the majestic mountains and early morning sunrises.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Allie; his son and wife, Curt and Wanda Lammers, Purdue Saskatchewan, Canada; and three daughters, Cheryl Shimek, Picture Butte, Alberta, Canada; Linda Noecker, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; and Jackie and Lloyd Sproute, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada; grandchildren, Brandon and Tanya, Zane and Carrie, and Jolene Lammers; Paul, Aaron, Brittany and Thom, Dexter and Tyler Shimek; Hanna and Adam Noecker; Maddy and Tessa Moser; Vanessa, Derrick, Lana and Angie Sproule; great-grandchildren, Parker Lammers and Rebecca Scott; and his sister, Phyllis Thoene, Fordyce.
Marcel was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Viola Lammers; two brothers, Donovan and Thomas Lammers; and son-in-law, Ed Shimek; and brother-in-law, Marcus Thoene.
