Obituary – Lester “Pete” Field

NORFOLK — Lester “Pete” Field, 71, Norfolk, formerly of Wayne, died Nov. 22, 2011, at his home in Norfolk.
Visitation was Nov. 27 at Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.
Funeral services were Nov. 28 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wayne, with Rev. Bob Oleson officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Lester’s grandchildren, Alexandra Thelen, Devon Thelen, Megan Thelen, Paige Thelen, Olivia Field, McKenzie Field, John Field and Grace Hoffman.
Active pallbearers were Mike Mohlfeld, Matt Woehler, Chris Woehler, B.J. Woehler, Steve Barenberg and Joe Mason.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Wayne.
Lester Lavern Field was born March 21, 1940, at Wisner, to Elray and Dorothy (Hansen) Field. He was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church, Wisner, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wayne. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1958, attended Wayne State College, and graduated from the Law  Enforcement Training Center, Grand Island. He was employed as a food service manager with South West  Community College, Clarinda, Iowa; Mackinac Island, Mich. College; and NTCC, Norfolk. Lester served as a Deputy Sheriff for Madison County Sheriff’s Department for 16 years and later was a Walmart Greeter in Norfolk for 18 years.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and past member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wayne.
Lester is survived by his children and spouses, John and Kathy Field, Arvada, Colo.; Erich and Lisa Field, Waseca, Minn,; Donn and Jenn Field, Norfolk; Larry Field, Phoenix, Ariz.; Jarod Field, Washington, D.C.; Andrea and Jason Genovesi, Taylorsville, Utah; Carol Thelen, Stanton; Hilary and Doug Hoffman, Norfolk; and Nikki and Rich Heidemann, Albion; sister, Bonnie (Field) and Harvey Mohlfeld, Wayne; brothers, William Woehler (Linda Gamble) and Robert (Mary) Woehler, all of Wayne; and James (Donna) Field, New Jersey; sisters, Nina (Reed) and Dennis Spangler, Wayne; Betty Lou (Galen) Brewer, Austin, Texas; and Alice Kobe, Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary; step-fathers, Wm. F. Woehler, Ted Reed, and John Redel; and a son-in-law, Brian Thelen.
