COLUMBUS, Wis. — Leora Guenther, 87, died Dec. 27, 2010, at home in Columbus, Wis.
Visitation was at Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, Jan. 3.
The rosary and Mass of Christian Burial were Jan. 4 at St. Columbkille Church, Elba, Wis.


Leora was the youngest of four children born to Louis and Susie (Thieman) Wiebelhaus, May 22, 1923, in Bow Valley. She married Earl Guenther June 20, 1944, in Bow Valley. They farmed in Nebraska 1944-1947, when they moved to Wisconsin. They were married for 44 years before his death in 1988. Together they had eight children, all of whom survive her.
She was an active volunteer with the Columbus Hospital Auxiliary and the Larsen House Nursing Home in Columbus, as well as a long time member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and altar society. She volunteered for many years as a 4-H leader. Leora loved playing cards, especially Euchre.
She had an exuberant, fun-loving spirit and a strong faith in God. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon and Tony Beck, Longmont, Colo., and their children, Emily and Devin; Arlene “Ellie” Morrow, Boulder, Colo., and her children, Jesse and Philly; and Charlotte and Bob Henneman, Erie, Colo., and their children, Katie and Sean; her sons, Richard and Diane, Waterloo, and his daughter, Rebecca; Ron and Wanda, Columbus, and their sons, Jason and Adam; Denis and Eileen, Grand Junction, Colo., and his daughter, Krystal; Jerry and Pirkko, Verona, and his children, Heather, Lindsey and Jon; and Dan and Diane, Columbus, and their children, Erica, Laura and Bryan; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Bernadette Tramp, Bloomfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, and one brother.
Memorials can be made to Columbus Community Hospital or charities of choice.
