LaVerle C. Obermeyer

WAKEFIELD — LaVerle C. Obermeyer, Wakefield, died March 2, 2011, at his home in Wakefield surrounded by his family.
Visitation and a prayer service were March 4 at Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home, Wakefield.
Funeral services were March 5 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wakefield, with Pastor Willie Bertrand officiating.
Burial was in the Laurel Cemetery.


LaVerle was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Laurel, to Herman F. and Gertrude (Koeppen) Obermeyer. He married Anna Mae Bach Aug. 24, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Laurel and later moved to Wakefield, where he worked for the city of Wakefield for over 35 years.
LaVerle was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wakefield.
He enjoyed his family, playing cards, the outdoors, bowling and Nebraska Football.
LaVerle is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Anna Mae; five sons, Rick, Laurel, and his special friend Joyce Zila; Jerry, Fort Dodge, Iowa, and his special friend, Ruth Ann Peterson; Scott and wife, Melissa, Wakefield; Brian and wife, Kris, Tekamah; and Steven and wife, Deb, Wakefield; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mae Burns, and husband, Keith, Sioux City, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Chuck Bach and wife, Logene, Thurston; a sister-in-law, Diane Clark, Bronson, Iowa; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Alvin, Harold, Emil, Earl, Lawrence, Leonard, Clayton and Alton.
