Obituary – Kirk Patrick McCoy

SEWARD — Kirk Patrick McCoy, 55, Seward, died Feb. 2, 2012, in Seward.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Sam McCoy, Joe McCoy, Mike McCoy, Paul McCoy, Mark McCoy, Kelly Barnes, Tony Rohan, Dashiell Rohan, John Jasnoch; godson, Alex Rohan; and goddaughter, Jenna McCoy.

Kirk Patrick McCoy was born Oct. 6, 1956, in Coleridge, the son of Joseph Donald and Jeanette Esther (Johnson) McCoy. Kirk grew up in Laurel, where he graduated from Laurel-Concord High School in 1974. Kirk attended school in Omaha and also worked at Campbell’s Soup. He later moved back home and attended Northeast Community College, Norfolk, where he graduated in 1977. He lived in Vail, Colo., where he worked as an electrician and also at the Vail Athletic Club. Kirk then moved to Seward where he worked as a lineman for Seward Rural Public Power District in 2005. He married Nancy Page June 15, 1985, in Seward.
Kirk was very proud to receive his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University in 1996. He started working at Tenneco in 2005, but also worked as the local community education director at Southeast Community College since 1997.
Kirk was a devoted Community Blood Bank donor, member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Seward Rec. Baseball and Football coach, and former Pack Leader of Cub Scouts #256. He loved his Chicago Bears, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and fishing in Canada.
Kirk is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jeanette McCoy; father-in-law, Ellsworth Page, and his dog, Jenny.
Kirk is survived by his wife Nancy; son, Sam; brothers and wives, Joe and Deanna, Mike and Jill, Paul and Mary, and Mark and Margaret; sister, Kelly, and husband, Mike Barnes; sisters-in-law, Cindy Page and Mary Jo Page; his special companion, his dog, Josie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Jim and Jody Arneson.
