Obituary – John Schulte

CULVER CITY, Calif. — John Harold Schulte, 82, Culver City, Calif., died July 27, 2008, after struggling with acute leukemia.
A vigil service was held Aug. 3 at Zrelak Mortuary, Downey, Calif.
A Mass of Christian burial was Aug. 4 at the Risen Christ Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.
John was born in Wynot March 11, 1926, to John Peter and Elizabeth Schulte, the youngest of nine children. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1937 where he attended St. Bridget’s grade school and St. Agnes High School. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, where he had an 18-month duty on Midway Island as a radar man.
He worked for the Bell Telephone Company for 36 years starting in construction and later as a planning engineer.


His hobbies included gardening, bowling, handyman, photography, traveling, visiting and dining out with friends and family. He worked as a Eucharistic Minister to the Sick for his church for almost 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cleo; five children, Dan, Jeanne, Lori, John and Jeff; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Kristen, Alex and Erik; and siblings, Lucille, Frank, Millie, Cyril, Betty and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill; his sister Dorothy; and his two infant sons.
