NORTHLAND, Mo. — Gerald Victor Sprouls, 78, a Northland resident in Kansas City, Mo., died July 7, 2011, at home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
A memorial service was held July 11 at Christ Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Mo., with Asst. Pastor B.J. Froiland officiating.
Burial of the cremated remains took place at the church in the Memorial Garden.
The Meyers Northland Chapel, Parkville, has been entrusted with the final arrangements.

Gerald was born March 31, 1933, in Obert, to Almon V. and Mae (Feelhaver) Sprouls. He graduated high school in Hartington, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Eileen Krohn in November 1959 at the First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bloomfield. They spent 51 wonderful years together.
Gerald and Eileen moved to Kansas City in 1981, where he retired from P.I.E. as an over-the-road truck driver in 1991. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #41 in Kansas City.
Gerald was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Platte Woods, Mo. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, tinkering in the garage and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen, of the home; a son and wife, Timothy G. and Beth Sprouls, Cottage Grove, Minn.; two daughters and husbands, Jacquelynn Marie and Todd Harder, Blair, and Deborah Ellen and Glen Brewer, Independence, Mo.; a brother and wife, Lawrence and Bonnie Sprouls, Wayne; two sisters, Marvelle Moser and Carol Cottier, both of Antioch, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Frances, Dorsey, Justin and Lane.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Jean Elsberry.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church or NorthCare Hospice and Palliative Care.
