Obituary – Duane Seyl

Newbern, Tenn. — Duane L. Seyl, 61, Newbern, Tenn. died Jan. 26, 2012, at Memphis Baptist Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be  5-7 p.m., Feb. 10, at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Feb. 11, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, with Rev. Gordon Bruce officiating.
Inurnment will be a private family service, to be held at a later date.
Military Rites will be performed by Tomek-Otto Post #72 American Legion, Pierce, and United States Air Force Honors Guard.

Gordon was born Dec. 11, 1950, in Lake City, Iowa, to Victor and Lucille (Heck) Seyl. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1969. Gordon married Nadine Boatman  Nov. 20, 1970, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Randolph. Gordon served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, enlisting Sept. 1, 1970, and was discharged  May 5, 1971. The couple lived in Norfolk, where  Duane worked for Nucor Steel. He was transferred to Logan, Utah, where they were for three years while with Nucor. They moved to Pierce in 1981 and Duane worked for the David J. Joseph Company, Norfolk. In 1992, they moved to Dyersburg, Tenn. Duane worked for Nucor Steel up until he was diagnosed with cancer in October 2010.
Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He enjoyed tooling around in his garage on projects and collecting coins.
He was a member of Riverwood Church, Dyersburg, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife Nadine Seyl, Newbern, Tenn,; three sons, Thad Seyl, Dyersburg, Tenn.; Justin and wife, Sandra Seyl, Chicago, Ill.; Jared and wife, Katie Seyl, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; five grandchildren, Jordan, Preston, Gage, Ellie and Caroline; three brothers, Jerry and wife, Cathy Seyl, Papillion; Larry and wife, Mary Seyl, Omaha; Ronnie and wife, Arthella Seyl, Lincoln; three sisters, Carol Ann and husband, Ron Asmussen, Westminister, Colo.; Linda and husband, Guy Mueller, Sedona, Ariz.; Judy and husband, Gary Fuerhoff, Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lucille.
