Obituary – Duane Pfund

COLERIDGE — Duane Pfund, 57, Coleridge, died from cancer Feb. 25, 2008, at his residence.
Memorial Services were Feb. 29 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, with Rev. Andreas Stein officiating.
Inurnment will be at the Lawn Ridge Cemetery at a later date.

Duane was born March 5, 1950, at Laurel, to John and Mildred (Miller) Pfund. He grew up in Coleridge and graduated from Coleridge High School in 1968. He attended the Denver Automotive Institute studying auto mechanics. In November 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam until his discharge in 1971. Duane spent many years in Chico, Calif., where he worked as a journeyman electrician for Agri Electric. He also attended college on the GI bill. He returned to Coleridge in August 2007.
He appreciated being able to spend the last few months of his life surrounded by his family. Duane loved to read and was a free spirit who respected and accepted the differences in other people.
Duane is survived by a brother and wife, Don and Nancy Pfund, Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy and Larry Paulsen, Coleridge, and Darlene and Dallas Puntney, Emmet; 10 nieces and nephews; three aunts and one uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
