WAYNE — Dorothy Meyer, 83, Wayne died Feb. 26, 2011, at Careage of Wayne.
Visitation was March 1 at Hasemann Funeral Home, Wayne.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., March 2, at Grace Lutheran Church, Wayne, with Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating, and interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Wayne.

Active Pallbearers will be Casey Nichols, Trevor Hurlbert, Tim Reinhardt, Kelly Meyer, Luke Virgil and Joshua Swanson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Renee Nichols, Holly Hurlbert, Heather Reinhardt, Melissa Meyer, Megan Meyer, Kristine Niemann and Martina Swanson.
Dorothy Helen Meyer was born March 13, 1927, to Aaron and Helen (Levene) Helgren on a farm northwest of Wayne. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Wakefield. She attended country school in Thurston County, District 8 near Wayne, and graduated from Wayne High School in 1944. Dorothy married Dean Meyer Nov. 19, 1947, at Salem Lutheran Church Parsonage, Wakefield. The couple farmed southeast of Wayne until moving into town in 1989.
Dorothy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Wayne; Ladies Aid; former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Wakefield; Wayne Senior Center; Roving Gardeners; and the Even Dozen Club. Dorothy and Dean’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were very special to them. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning vegetables and fruits, caring for her flowers, and playing cards. Dorothy also enjoyed collecting and watching “Red Birds”
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Dean; their children and spouses, Sandy and Glen Nichols, Jerold “Butch” and Connie Meyer, and Jeanette and David Swanson, all of Wayne; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers and wives, Aaron “Gene” and Delores Helgren, Wayne; Warren Helgren, Columbia, Tenn.; Gordon and Darlene Helgren, Wakefield; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents.
