Dora was born on May 20, 1918 at Crofton to Gustav and Hilma (Christensen) Paulsen.  She and her twin sister, Della, grew up in the Crofton area and attended Swede School west of Crofton.  She married Art Steffen in 1938 at Crofton and in 1939 a son Arthur Jerry was born.  Dora and Art enjoyed attending all of his high school sporting events and when Jerry played football and ran track for the University of Colorado they traveled to many of his games. In 1941 they began farming north of Crofton.  After Art’s death on November 20, 1962 Dora moved to Yankton.  It was there she met Orville Myrand.  They were married in Boulder, CO on Nov. 14, 1964. They lived on a farm near Irene, SD for 23 years.  On July 17, 1985 Orville died in Omaha after a short illness.  In 1987 Dora moved to Crofton and lived across the alley from Della.  They were always close and enjoyed doing ceramics, playing cards, crocheting, baking and just being together.  Dora had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Bloomfield since July 7, 2006.

Dora is survived by 2 granddaughters; Joni and Robert Burger and her two beloved great grandsons, Derek and Gordon, and Kristi Steffen and Don Smith all of Cedarville, MI.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her son Jerry Steffen on Oct. 14, 1992, and her twin sister Della on July 11, 1996.  The family requests that memorials may be made to the Jerry Steffen Memorial Fund, which awards scholarships every year to two outstanding athletes from Crofton High School (c/o Keith Steffen – 7031 E 69th St. Tulsa, OK 74133).
